How these picks are made

Plan your football reading around Saturday and Sunday with the weekend table above. It lists matches with 1X2 percentages, a tip and odds, with popular leagues first and up to 80 matches a day. Start with the games you follow, then compare their possible outcomes. If you are looking at the next day's fixtures instead, open our football predictions for tomorrow page for that view.

Weekend picks appear as fixtures and odds are confirmed, usually from Wednesday. They are updated up to kick-off, so you can return to check a match as the weekend gets closer. The odds are market prices for reference and may differ at your bookmaker. A listed price gives context for a pick, while the three percentages show the model's view of each possible result.

Here is how PeakyBet makes those percentages. It uses results, form, home and away goals, head-to-head records and bookmaker odds from API-Football. Half of each 1X2 probability comes from a Poisson goals model. This estimates goals from the season and each team's last 5 matches. The other half comes from bookmaker prices after the bookmaker margin is removed. The highest percentage is shown in bold so it is easy to spot.

Read 1 as a home win, X as a draw and 2 as an away win. Compare all three percentages rather than reading only the bold one. Draws happen in roughly one football game in four, so that middle column matters too. Below the table, last weekend's results are marked won or lost, giving you a way to check the previous picks. For ages 18+ only; bet only what you can afford to lose.
